Disaster Relief
Serves to assist victims of tornados, floods and other disasters. Volunteers are needed on all levels of service from chaplaincy to chainsaw crews and feeding units.
Migrant Outreach
Through his job, Hugo Alcantara (as a full-time manager of a furniture store), has established connections with Hispanic individuals coming into the area and has initiated an ESL class (English as a Second Language) on Sunday afternoons going from 3-5 pm, with the hope of introducing them to Christ.
Before leading the ESL course, Hugo conducts a Bible Study using Bi-Lingual Spanish-English Bibles. Interestingly, out of the 35 participants, only 5 raised their hands when asked if they were Christians.
Hugo’s heart beats for evangelism and ministry. He preaches in pastor less MPBA churches. He serves as the outreach director at Liberty Baptist Church, and each year, he embarks on a mission trip to Mexico, collaborating with “Amigo del Tren” (friends of the train).
Our collective hope and prayer is that a new Hispanic Church will be established in the Peoria area, where Hugo serves as its pastor, with a mission to reach out to the Hispanic community.
We need prayer, more volunteers to assist with the ESL program, and additional Bibles and workbooks. If you would like to hear more and help out in any way, let us know by contacting our email metropeoriabaptist@gmail.com. Thanks!
